Vary Lumar: "The Jig is Up"

Those of you that know me, you know the word "sexy" is not a word that often comes out of my mouth. Unless (of course), I am referring to a LA2A or a B15N. Well... Sexy, sexy, sexy, sexy. There I said it. This is the kind of sexy that takes you out to drinks, gets a smokey aged bourbon, and lets you order your own drink because it knows you're an independent woman dammit. The kind of sexy that's edgy enough to make you hesitate to take it home to mom and dad.

You might be asking yourself "What the hell is she talking about?" I'm talking about "The Jig is Up" released digitally on 4/9 by Vary Lumar. I've been keeping my ear to Vary Lumar for a few years now. This is by far, their most mature, cohesive effort. Melding the angst of "Waiting Room" with the sound-scapes from "Plasticolor Coma EP". "The Jig is Up" showcases the musicality and maturity of a now seasoned Boston band.

Well done sirs, well done.

Vary Lumar is:
Paul DePasquale - vocals, keys, guitar
Ben Case - guitar
Rob Laff (Rob of the less short curly hair) - bass
Rob Fusco (Rob of the REALLY short curly hair) - drums

See Vary Lumar live with The Lights Out and Brightest Lights for their CD release at Church on 4/23. Also playing: Black Fortress of Opium and The Backup Factor
